Regrettably Sheila developed cancer and died in January 1990, at this time she gifted some of her ponies to Rhona Hyslop and myself Jane McCulloch and left the stud in our hands. It was Sheila who gave us both a love of Highland ponies and it was her wish that we should continue to keep her breed lines alive, producing good tempered active riding ponies.
Unfortunately we lived miles apart, Rhona up at Standard Farm, Barrhill where Sheila lived and myself in Maybole both in the region of Carrick, Maybole being the ancient capital of Carrick. This has actually proved to be very successful for us as we can toughen the ponies to hill conditions and prevailing weather at Standard and then tempered in the busier area of Maybole where aero planes, cars, trains and children are the order of the day.
The ponies that we breed are very versatile and have delighted the young and old with there ability to perform at various levels of competitiveness. Whether you require a pony for everyday hacking around the town and country or a pony that will serve you well in endurance riding, show jumping, cross country, dressage, in-hand or ridden show classes this breed will not let you down
Our stallions Carrick Valtos and Carrick Lord Torran, are available for stud hire both of which have produced the style of pony that compliments the stud.
